SIA students make a lasting impact through service in Cambodia
Published on: 30 January 2025
Over the summer, students from Christ Church Grammar School and St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School travelled to Cambodia as part of a Service in Action (SIA) trip in partnership with the Cambodian Children’s Fund (CCF).
Founded in 2004, CCF offers life-changing education, food, healthcare, and shelter to vulnerable children from some of Cambodia’s most impoverished communities.
Throughout the tour, students from both schools collaborated with CCF to deliver essential services, including teaching English and Mathematics, as well as assisting with the distribution of new shoes to 750 children.
In addition to the students’ contributions, staff from Christ Church and St Mary’s also shared their expertise by providing professional development in teaching strategies and STEM education to CCF’s teachers.
Mark Tait, Director of Service in Action, shared, “The journey to Cambodia is an incredibly impactful experience. Our students build meaningful connections with children who, despite living in absolute poverty, share the same hopes, dreams, and a deep love for learning. It’s truly inspiring to witness the transformative power of philanthropy and collaborate with an organisation like CCF that creates real, lasting change.”
