During Term 2, our Student Environmental Committee’s (SEC) implemented an inter-house Containers for Change WA competition to raise money for Anglicare WA. The premise of this initiative was simple – students had to place their appropriate containers into a bin the colour of their House. The containers were then returned through a Containers for Change refund point, whereby the money received from the containers went towards that House. At the end of the term, the House that raised the most money from their recycled containers would be hailed the winner.

The SEC created this fun video to introduce the initiative and encourage everyone to get recycling. Our friends at Anglicare WA reached out to stay updated on the competition’s outcome and have expressed their gratitude for the student initiative.
At the final Assembly for Term 2, the SEC announced that Craigie House took out first place, collecting 375 containers. Congratulations to the SEC in creating a way for students to reflect on their current recycling practices and positively shape their behaviours.
