Students explore diverse cultures and rich histories
Published on: 27 June 2024
The Preparatory School is currently celebrating Access Asia Week. This annual event sees students explore the rich traditions, values, and histories of various Asian countries, helping them understand global connections and develop intercultural understanding.
Parent volunteers who have lived in Asia, have professional experience there, or are part of the Asian diaspora, have offered their insights and skills as invaluable learning opportunities for our students throughout the week. They have enriched activities by facilitating cultural workshops and presentations, ranging from traditional arts and crafts to music, dance, and culinary experiences. Some of the activities on the agenda for the week have included:
- Japanese Taiko Drumming, facilitated by Taiko On Perth
- Indian Cultural Workshop by Ms Hema Shankar
- Ice Kacang – Malaysian dessert-making workshop facilitated by parents
- Chinese dumpling-making workshop facilitated by parents
- Chinese culture exposure workshop with traditional musical instruments, trying on cultural outfits and storytelling, facilitated by parents
The involvement of our Christ Church families always makes Access Asia Week a memorable and impactful event. Thank you to all who contributed to making this a thoroughly enjoyable and educational celebration for all involved.
