This week, our Year 8 Humanities students stepped into the heart of democracy with a visit to WA’s State Parliament. Fresh off the weekend’s election, the halls were quieter than usual, but that didn’t stop the students from immersing themselves in the workings of government.

Guided by the Parliament’s education team, the boys explored the chambers, engaged in role-play activities, and gained a deeper understanding of how laws are made. In Mr Wyllie’s class (pictured), Archie Anning took on the prestigious role of Speaker of the Lower House, describing it as “a cool view of the chamber from up there.”

Student Lachlan Hill appreciated the insights from their guide, Ben, saying, “We were really fortunate to get an insight into State Parliament and its history.”
