Success in PSA Surfing Competition
Published on: 9 June 2021
Christ Church Grammar School has won the PSA Surfing Competition for the second year in a row on the back of some superb Surfing and Bodyboarding performances from the boys.
The competition was held on Friday 4 June at Scarborough Beach and the conditions were clean, with consistent glassy 2 to 3-foot waves and a light offshore breeze. The boys paddled out into the surf at 8.00am and the competition quickly got off to a flying start for the Senior Surfing team.
Jensen Kirby was rewarded for his patience as he waited for his second wave, ultimately scoring an excellent 8/10 for it after it finally came. He was backed up by an on form Dawson Greig and a very solid surf from Tom Fox. In the Senior Bodyboarding, Ben Walker delivered a stand-out performance as he rolled and spun Christ Church to victory. In the Junior Surfing it was Charlie Phillips whose surfing stood out, backed up by Jake Yeo and Leon Butler. In the Junior Bodyboarding Max Yeo and Sam Harding scored highly with some good combination moves.
