Concerto Night showcases exceptional talent

On Friday evening, the Christ Church and MLC communities gathered for a night of exceptional music, showcasing the talents of the senior music students. The audience was treated to recitals from an organist and pianists, drummer and percussionist, vocalist and violinists, with music ranging from Baroque to rock.
This year, the five soloists from Christ Church took on extremely challenging and rarely heard repertoire. This included Henry Louden performing the Ferdinand David Concerto for Trombone, Michael Lukin on organ for the Guilmant Concerto For Organ, and Bennett Anderson playing Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No 2′. Sam Bougher (vocals) and Albert Qiu (piano) were also outstanding performers on the night.
The soloists from Christ Church and MLC were supported by our young musicians in the symphony and chamber orchestras, and jazz and rock bands.
“The professionalism and dedication from the soloists really shone through on the night, and the backing orchestras and bands provided excellent support,” said Director of Music, Mr Kevin Gillam.
Mr Gillam thanked the boys’ instrumental teachers and Christ Church music staff for their significant contributions.
