Musicians ready to perform

Inclusivity and excellence are the hallmarks of the Christ Church music department, to which every student is welcome and encouraged to join. More than a third of Christ Church students receive music tuition with a large number of boys passionate about performing in the various instrumental and vocal ensembles on offer.
Catering for classical, jazz and rock musicians, there is an active calendar of performance opportunities at a variety of venues, as well as school assemblies. Our musicians also play at major concerts presented in conjunction with Methodist Ladies’ College and St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls.
This term, boys will perform at all school assemblies, lunchtime concerts in the refectory and jazz band students will be involved in the CD launch sundowner performance on Thursday 17 March.
Director of music, Mr Kevin Gillam said he looked forward to a successful term for those studying music.
“I encourage all musicians of all styles and experience to visit the music department and enquire about joining a band, orchestra, jazz ensemble, guitar group or rock workshop. Any boy interested in singing is also welcome to join the senior choir, with rehearsals on Monday afternoons.”
