The School Chapel was the scene of the House Shout this morning, with an amazing array of vocals on display as each House took to the stage.

Each House performed their allocated ‘rock anthem’ on stage with support from a band before being assessed by two judges on a range of criteria.

Craigie House managed to impress judges and the audience with their performance of the Hunters and Collectors original, Holy Grail, making them the winners of the 2017 House Shout. Jupp House claimed second place with INXS’s Never Tear Us Apart and Romsey House in third with John Farnham’s You’re the Voice.

“The choice of rock anthems in this year’s House Shout provided plenty of scope for vocal pyrotechnics and creativity in approach. Since inception, the House Shout has added much to the musical life of the School. Our winning House matched the rhythmic precision of the backing band and added some superb vocal harmonies,” says Director of Music, Mr Kevin Gillam.

Other well known anthems performed included Living on a PrayerRocket ManDon’t Dream it’s Over and Horses.

The House Shout has been running at Christ Church for the past eight years and is an annual calendar event not to be missed.
