Young musicians bring flare to the fore
Published on: 4 April 2019
Over 200 members of our community enjoyed fine performances by the School’s student bands, ensembles and soloists at Friday’s Music to the Fore concert.
Jai and Arjun Rodrigues on classical guitars performed four excellent Spanish duets and solos, followed by Arman Brian and Matt Preston with ballads including the classic Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen.
Completing a change of pace, the string quartet comprising of Daniel Zhou, Jamie Low, William Ji and Joshua Spirek played two movements from the Double Violin Concerto by J.S. Bach.
“Informal concerts like such allow us to showcase the many smaller groups and ensembles we have in the Music Department.”
“Music is integral to the artistic fabric of Christ Church, and boys of any skill level and ambition are encouraged to pursue our Music program.”
“On the evening we witnessed some very polished rock workshop bands, playing a mixture of covers and originals.”
“Key highlights were the very lively singing from both Hugo Gibbs and Sam Robbins and the song writing skills of Mitch Rocchi.”
“The evening was complemented by pizzas and coffee from food trucks, as well as free popcorn courtesy of the Friends of Music.”
“Our musicians now look forward to performing at the upcoming Combined CCGS/St Hilda’s Concert being held on Friday 3 May at Joy Shepherd Performing Arts Centre.”
Special thanks goes to Joe Grech for sound and set-up on the day and the Friends of Music for organising this year’s event.
