A morning tea to thank parents who volunteer their time at the Uniform Shop was held last week. Uniform Shop Committee convenor Georgina Ryan said the event recognised parents, as well as staff, who assist in its busy operation.

Over December and January, volunteers assisted with hundreds of one-on-one appointments for new boys. The Uniform Shop depends on volunteers to assist with helping boys and parents, labelling, folding, sorting and restocking.

Volunteer Meaghan Yu said being a volunteer was also a great source of information. “It is a way of meeting staff, other parents and finding out how the School works,” she said. “It’s a worthwhile investment of your time.”

Volunteer Jane Grainger said volunteering was a great opportunity to become part of the School community. “I was made to feel so welcome,” she said. “There is so much effort that goes into running the Uniform Shop and being a volunteer makes me feel a part of it.”

Currently the Uniform Shop is looking for more volunteers to assist with its next busy period, especially from 3.00pm to 5.00pm on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays until the end of term.
