A group of Year 11 boys are spending a week tutoring and mentoring primary school students in Australia’s hottest town at the moment as part of the School’s Service in Action (SIA) trip to Marble Bar.

The group, led by SIA Director Mark Tait have been working hard with the teachers from Marble Bar Primary, rotating through different classrooms and engaging in one-on-one tutoring and mentoring with the students. They have also been helping with swimming lessons.

“After hours we have been at the Rec Shed, organising and playing games like foosball and modified tennis.”

They have also had time to visit some of the local landmarks in the small regional town including the Marble Bar pool, Medical Centre and the lookout.

“The boys are immersing themselves in the opportunity to learn as much as they can about local culture and life in a remote town,” said Mr Tait.

The boys will remain in Marble Bar until tomorrow during which time they will continue to work with Marble Bar Primary.
