Year 12 Student Dylan Ng wins big at BUFTA Awards and secures spot at AFTRS

Year 12 student, Dylan Ng, has made waves in the Australian filmmaking community, winning two prestigious awards at the 2024 BUFTA Awards (Bond University Film and Television Awards). The young filmmaker took home both Best Film and Best Sound Design for his gripping neo-noir short, Proof of Kill. The BUFTA Awards, a national event recognising the best student filmmakers in Years 11 and 12 across Australia, also saw Dylan nominated for several other accolades, including Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay, Best Overall Filmmaker, and Dean’s Choice.
Proof of Kill, a visually striking and emotionally charged film, tells the story of a mute photographer who leads a dangerous double life as an assassin. The film delves into complex themes of love, artistry, and compassion.
In addition to his impressive achievements at the BUFTA Awards, Dylan has been accepted into the prestigious Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS) in Sydney. AFTRS is renowned for its rigorous selection process and is regarded as one of the top film schools in the country.
