85 boys from Year 4 achieved the remarkable milestone of being the first students to complete the School’s new Little Queenslea Drive (LQD) program.
LQD is the first overnight learning experience for boys at the Preparatory School and as such, there is a strong emphasis on the boys having a positive experience away from home. The LQD program was adapted for boys in Year 4 from the School’s Year 9 program; On Queenslea Drive.
During the program, the boys took part in practical, problem solving activities including various team games, raft building and bridge design in the Innovation Space. During the evening the boys participated in a quiz night followed by reflection time before sleeping in the OQD accommodation. After waking up bright and early on the second day of the program the boys took part in a mindfulness session by the river, followed by “A Race Around Christ Church” using QR codes at different locations of the school.
“It is the first time we have run LQD and today the boys were having a ball. All of today’s sessions focused on building relationships with their peers and teachers, in addition to learning strategies to help work positively in a group.” Deputy Head of Prep School (Pastoral) Kim Morcom said.
