The Year 6 cohort recently took part in the first session of their compulsory Bike Education program.

The program, run in conjunction with CycleSense, delivers a modified version of AusCycling’s “Ride Nation” program that is linked to the National PDHPE Curriculum.

The aim of the program was to provide students with the skills, confidence and experience to ride a bike safely.

The program helped the boys to develop fundamental bike riding skills, including balance activities, braking, scanning and turning through a game-sense/experience approach.

Focus was placed on developing vital skills and confidence for traffic environments such as bike control, etiquette (eg signalling), hazard perception and how to enter a roadway safely.

This initiative was made possible by a CCGS Parents’ Association Development Grant.
