Yesterday, the School hosted a special breakfast for our Year 6 students and their fathers/friends. The event was an opportunity for the attendees to connect, share stories, and strengthen bonds that are so important during this stage of our students’ lives as they transition to adolescence.

Brad Gardner, Director of The Wynne Centre for Health and Wellbeing, shared insightful advice on navigating upcoming changes, emphasising the role that fathers and mentors play in helping their son to build resilience, confidence, and a sense of security. Brad highlighted that open communication, patience, and encouragement are key to ensuring a smooth transition, helping students to thrive as they embark on this new chapter in their educational journey.

“As our Year 6 students prepare to make the transition from Preparatory to Senior School, a strong father/friend-son bond becomes even more important,” Mr Gardner commented.

“This transition is not just an academic step but an emotional and social one as well. The new environment, with its unique challenges and opportunities, can be both exciting and overwhelming. During this time, having a supportive and understanding father or father figure can make all the difference”, he added.

We hope all attendees left the event feeling connected and empowered to work together in preparation for Year 7.
