Year 7 students, accompanied by their mothers/female mentors, gathered on Thursday evening for the annual Time & Space Mother/Female Mentor and Son event on campus. The event was facilitated by Bill Jennings, the founder of Time & Space. Bill guided discussions on how transitional moments can be significant milestones in a boy’s life, bringing both challenges and joys, alongside a whirlwind of emotions for both mothers and sons.

Through thoughtful conversations, students and their mothers/mentors explored their individual growth and how they can support one another on their journey ahead. This reinforced a foundation of social-emotional learning and the rites of passage framework that will guide them in the future.

Brad Gardner, Director of the Wynne Centre for Health and Wellbeing, said the event was an integral first step in the rites of passage journey through Senior School.

“It offers our Year 7 students the chance to step into the discomfort of growth as they work with their mothers or mentors to build a vision for their future selves.”

The event was further enriched by the participation of Year 11 and 12 Wellbeing leaders, along with past Year 7 parents, who facilitated group discussions—a true testament to the strong and supportive community at Christ Church.

The evening provided a meaningful opportunity for growth, not only for the students but also for their mothers/female mentors, as they embark on the journey of guiding a more mature young adult in the years ahead. We are incredibly grateful to all those who dedicated their time to this event.
