Ben Breheny

Ben Breheny (1993) has been located in the Pilbara (Karratha) for the past three years with wife Caitlin and three boys Tom (5), Nick (3) and Sam (two months). Ben is involved in managing the Murujuga National Park on the Burrup Peninsula, Dampier – an area of 4,913 hectares. It was the State’s 100th national park launched last year and is home to the largest concentration of petroglyphs and rock art in the world. The Burrup is a hugely significant place for local Aboriginal people due to its connection to lore and culture. The coast is stunning and managing the park includes protecting the 42 islands of the Dampier Archipelago. The majority of the region is National Heritage listed. Ben works for the Murujuga Ranger Program, a subsidiary of the Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation, which represents five local language groups. These are the Ngarluma, Yinjibarndi, Marthudunera, Yaburara and Wongotoo people.
