assembly

The Old Boys’ Assembly has become an annual event on the School calendar, providing a special opportunity to address the Senior School students. This year, Tom Nattrass (1993) reflected on the theme of universal time and the Christ Church boy through time, celebrating the School’s significance for students throughout history. Archivist Frieda French and old boy Sam Rocchi (2013) contributed to the assembly program, joined by Past Presidents of the OBA, the current OBA committee, our Unforgettable members and invited guests.

Tom shared his experience of joining former students from his Year 7 class, along with the class teacher, for the ceremonial opening of a time capsule buried 28 years ago. Old boys from a Year 7 class in the 1993 cohort buried the time capsule with a view to opening it at the age of 40. With much intrigue and laughter, twelve old boys joined the historic occasion (one flying in from Hong Kong) to uncover letters, money, magazines and a yoyo amongst forgotten treasures.

Current Year 6 students have buried their own time capsule, marked with a plaque, for unearthing in 2045.
