Old boys v school boys in water polo pre-season match
Published on: 16 April 2014
Playing against the combined old boys team firstly demonstrated to us the extraordinary talent that Christ Church water polo has managed to produce over the years. Playing against old boys like George Ford (2010), Andrew Ford (2012) and Nick O’Halloran (2004), who are all either current or ex-Australian squad members, showed just how good Christ Church boys can become. On top of this, almost every other player in the team had represented Western Australia at some junior level. The old boys dominated the first half of the game, although the second half was a different story with both teams going goal for goal and the Firsts producing a number of positive signs. Most importantly, the match epitomised the culture and pride that exists in CCGS polo. Having all of the enthusiastic old boys down to play against us, made us all realise how deep the culture runs at CCGS and how it just doesn’t stop being a part of your life when you finish school. This was again shown when many of those old boys came down to support us at our matches during the season, all of them wearing their old Christ Church water polo shirts.
