1962 Lunch_v3The annual lunch for the gentlemen and others of the Class of 1962, or those who grew up with them, was held on Friday 23 May. There were 20 of us in attendance. We had a record number of apologies, 20 also. This was extraordinary as in the past people who do not turn up usually do not apologise. Obviously getting slightly older and good manners go hand in hand.

The lunch was held again at Claremont Yacht Club. The meal was particularly well prepared by the yacht club chef and we all decided to meet again next year at the same place. The wine, from David Atkinson’s Jane Brook, was excellent, and the behaviour was as usual OK… in other words, we left at an appropriate time ensuring that all the allowance for beer and wine was accounted for.

There were, as is tradition, no speeches in the absence of the anonymous chief speechmaker whose initials are Bruce Haigh. Introductory comments by Sandy Clarkson are not considered a speech, as no one can remember them.
